The Azerpost (Azərpoçt) Government-owned enterprise was incorporated as per the Order of the Ministry of Communications or the Azerbaijan Republic No151 of September 23, 1999, entitled «On the continuation of reforms in the postal industry, and on structural improvements». The enterprise was established on the basis of the Azərpoçt Production Association, and was its legal successor. Azerpost handles electronic payouts (pensions, social benefits, money orders, etc.), collects pay-ins (utility service bills, taxes), accepts deposits (demand and term), sells other savings services, it is also working to improve the existing money order system. Azerpost is also involved in e-Government service delivery – issuing of diverse certificates and documents by local and central public authorities, tax and special tax collection by local and central public authorities. Azerpost also provides e-business services – e-commerce, cyber mail account opening and obtaining e-mail address, access to Internet network, to information and to electronic databases.
