The State Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Turkmenistan, Turkmenvnesheconombank, was incorporated on January 27, 1992, on the basis of the former branch office of the Vnesheconombank of USSR by a decree of the President of Turkmenistan. Turkmenvnesheconombank is actually of the same age as the independence of Turkmenistan, and it was established to develop and strengthen foreign economic links and protect forex interests of Turkmenistan. The most mportant pre-requisite of the Bank's establishment the implementation of a large-scale investment program aimed at seachange reforming of the national economy and at ensuring economic health of Turkmenistan. Over the years of its existance the geograpgy of Vnesheconombank collaboration has encompassed countries of North America, Europe and Asia giving the Bank an opportunity to familiarize itself with diverse forms of "credit culture" and successfully learn from the experience accumulated in the banking business worlwide.
